The average plot on which a home can be built, even in suburban or even exurban areas, is dramatically shrinking. In my community, the average home has a relatively small plot of land around it. Oftentimes it is just enough that the homes do not abut each other, and the owners to walk along the edge of the home without trespassing into the other’s property. That confined space is inadequate to grow much of anything. As a result, plenty of home owners can also see ample reasons to use the excess space inside their homes to set up an indoor garden. Indoor gardening and making use of your own limited land will enable even the most hemmed in city dweller to become a modern homesteader.
